Yesterday we went in for another appointment with Dr. KH.
As we sat in the room waiting for him, the nurse walked in and asked, "so, do you want to try?". I looked at her a little puzzled and she explained we might be able to hear Bubs' heartbeat. Of course we wanted to give it a try! We had been waiting for this for weeks now!! The nurse took a few tries, finding my heartbeat 4 times before she found what was unmistakably Bubs' - twice as fast as mine. I wish she'd have let us hear it longer but she said "alright, everything sounds good" and was out of there. Then Dr. KH came in to chat with us and assured me that all my pains, pokes, heart palpitations and unmentionable experiences were completely normal and that things would get more "interesting" as Bubs grew.
How far along am I? 12 weeks and 4 days. Does that put me in the second trimester yet? I know puritans say that 13 weeks and 6 days is the end of the first trimester but my nurse said "welcome to the second trimester" to me yesterday and that, in my books, is not retractable.
Weight gain: YES!! 0.5 lbs.
Pregnancy perks: I now get to eat 300 extra calories a day! And I'm told that my good appetite is just around the corner!
Cravings: Panera's baked potato soup! Also, I don't know if this counts as a craving but we've discovered that I have never thrown up a combination of beef and bread and I do like it! Bring on the brisket sandwich!

oh the heartbeat.. wait until you get to see it pumping away. how people believe in evolution I still don't know.
